Sketching Excursions

THERE'S nothing like a bit of en plein air sketching, so we like to make the most of our amazing surroundings on Vis by taking visitors out to explore the landscape through their sketchbooks, under the tutelage of an experienced artist.

We offer two different excursions:

The Guided Sketch Walk takes in the magnificent sweep of St George's Bay, Vis. We start at the eastern side, in picturesque Kut, and walk around to the site of ancient Issa in the west, over a very leisurely three hours. There are six drawing stops, where you'll be set a different 20-minute creative challenge at each one, and given gentle guidance and advice on how to approach the task. You don't need to be an artist, either: all you need is a pair of eyes and a willingness to have a go. Learn about the history of Vis, relax like a local, and create a unique record of your visit, all at the same time!

For the price, you'll get a handmade one-day sketchbook, the use of an easily portable art pack, plus coffee in a local bar. And you get to do something completely cool!

Excursion runs 9.00-12.00. Booking is essential. Distance covered: 1.5km (minimal climbing)

Price: €25 per person

The Island Circuit is a whole day excursion, where we visit several places around Vis, and give you a longer time at each, to immerse yourself in the landscape and explore it through painting and drawing, in your sketchbook. You'll get tuition help and suggestions if you want, otherwise you'll be free to draw inspiration from your surroundings. There'll also be opportunities to swim, and to get lunch, and to generally have a great laid-back day.

For the price, you'll get transport, a handmade one-day sketchbook, and the use of an art kit (including watercolour box), plus coffee in a local bar.

Excursion runs 9.00-16.00. Places are limited. Booking is essential. Involves periods of walking over rough terrain and climbing.

Price: €50 per person
